Imparts a delicious Smokey flavor to dishes including brussels sprouts!

This seasoning imparts a delicious Smoky flavor to anything you add it to. The mixture seasoning is a very, very fine ground powder blend. In fact I was sneezing when I used it. One concern as I found that the seal had been broken and there was powder everywhere on the inside of the package and the type of product cap is easily damaged at the hinge which once the product is opened, it will not keep as fresh with this type of a cap. As you can see in my photos, the product had leaked out all through the initial safety seal around the cap of the product so I was initially very wary on doing a review. The blend that I decided on getting is the smoky boar applewood smoke rub. It has smoke forward notes and I was pleasantly surprised to find that the first ingredient, which is brown sugar followed by salt and regular sugar was not super sweet. To me that makes the product much more versatile in application. Cornstarch is the next ingredient and yeast extract followed by citric acid and dehydrated garlic, soybean, oil, dehydrated, onion, molasses, maltodextrin, Applewood, smoke and other natural flavors. There is caramel color added, although I’m not sure why because if it’s for aesthetics, the product is going to be cooked down on whatever you’re making anyway so I’m not sure the caramel color was absolutely necessary. There is a cake additive added to ensure the product does not clump.I’m very happy This is made in the United States in St. Louis Missouri. under suggested usage It states it’s a tart and sweet smoky “wallow” for the wild boar. Quite friendly to other roast meats and potatoes. I have added this so far too french fries, and I’ve made pigs feet using this to impart a smoky flavor in my dish and it was quite a hit. If you can’t get anyone to eat your brussels sprouts try sprinkling this on it. It will definitely give your pallet a pleasant surprise. I suggest drizzling olive oil on the brussels sprouts first when you’re cooking and then top it with the smoky seasoning and toss lightly. It’s the next best thing to bacon. The expiration date is about 11 months out, which should give me ample time to use the product before it expires.Again, I’m hoping that the seal and packaging issue which could contribute to freshness of the product and the choice of lid or cap will improve -see photos to see the product cap and leakage broken seal Issue.

Excellent Flavor Profile

Finding a rub that balances sweet and smoky without being overwhelmingly salty is tough. This applewood smoked rub delivers a fantastic crust on pork ribs and chicken. It binds well to the meat and caramelizes perfectly under high heat. The smoke flavor is distinct but does not overpower the natural taste of the game or pork.It is a great dry rub to keep in rotation for weekend cookouts. Highly recommended for the smoker.

Delicious with our charcoal-grilled chicken!!

I love seasonings and trying new ones! I also love applewood anything. So I had to try this. When I first tasted it by itself I figured it would be pretty good on most anything. Let me tell you, it's DELICIOUS on chicken. We cooked some chicken over charcoal, and ALL we put on the chicken was this. Literally no other seasoning. It turned out AMAZING! I was so impressed by how the flavor developed when cooking. I am now excited to put it on other meats, including fish. I've never had a seasoning that tasted quite like this one. It's unique. A little sweet, a little salty, and definitely has a smoky flavor. We love it! I highly recommend it, especially for charcoal grilling.

Yum! Applewood Smoke Rub

They are only losing a star because there was seasoning all over the outside of the bottle, but inside of the plastic wrapping. It needed to be opened up over the sink. That said, the rub itself is amazing. As I was bringing in the packages, the entire car smelled of BBQ smoke and it was so delicious I couldn't want to start cooking with this! It's great on all kinds of meats, and I love to try seasonings like this on a variety of things. Ribs, smoked veggies on the grill, and a side of potato salad, yes please!
