Ingredients
-
1 LB Calamari
-
2/3 Cup Flour
-
1/3 Cup Cornstarch
-
1 1/2 TBSP Wildlife Seasonings Trout Freshwater Blend (trust us, this blend is pure magic)
-
1 Cup Milk or Buttermilk (for a tenderizing soak)
-
Vegtable or Peanut Oil for Frying
-
Lemon Wedges for Spritzing
-
Cocktail Sauce or Your Favorite Dipping Sauce (because dipping is half the fun!)
Directions
Prep the Calamari: Rinse the calamari thoroughly in cold water. If you’re short on time, feel free to use pre-washed calamari. Cut the calamari tubes into rings about 1/8 inch thick.
For larger tentacles, slice them into thirds.
Milk Bath: Place the calamari in a milk or buttermilk wash. This step ensures tenderness and flavor absorption.
Flour Power: Heat your oil in a large pot or deep fryer to a sizzling 380 degrees Fahrenheit.
While the oil heats up, combine the flour, cornstarch, and the magical Trout Freshwater Blend in a bowl (or a zipper bag if you’re feeling adventurous). Mix it all up!
Dredge and Fry: Take the calamari directly from the milk bath and dredge it in the flour mixture. Make sure each piece gets a cozy coating.
Deep fry the calamari in batches, ensuring they’re spaced out in the fryer. Fry for 30 to 45 seconds until they turn that irresistible golden brown.
Cooling Rack: Move the cooked calamari to a cooling rack. Admire their crispy perfection.
Serve with Flair: Present your Wildlife Seasonings Fried Calamari immediately.
Give it a spritz of lemon for that zing, and don’t forget the cocktail sauce or your favorite dipping concoction.
Recipe Note
Recipe Note: Cooking times may vary, so test a batch to find your desired consistency. Overcooking will result in a rubbery texture, and we wouldn’t want that. Also, remember not to consume raw or undercooked seafood—safety first!
Now, gather your loved ones, set the table, and dive into a plate of Wildlife Seasonings Fried Calamari. It’s a taste of the wild, seasoned just right!
